What is NTMA?
NTMA is the abreviation for the New Times Music Awards.
What are the NTMAs?
The New Times Music Awards is a music competition that is designed to showcase the music and songwriting from local musicians in a wide variety of genres including Rock/Alternative, Country/Americana/Folk, R&B/Blues, Hip-Hop/Rap, Open, and Youth.
We start with a 2-3 week entry period for musicians to enter songs or full albums for consideration. These many entries are judged to produce the top three winners in each category. The genre winners all go on to be included on the annual NTMA CD and are nominees for the Readers Choice award. The competition is topped off with an awards showcase with performances by the winning artists in each genre.
When will the showcase take place?
This year's awards & showcase is set to to take place on Friday, November 3rd at SLO Brew Rock & Event Center.
Each first place finisher will compete against the others for Best Live Performance during the concert and awards ceremony. A panel of local music industry judges will determine the best live performer, who will receive a specially-customized NTMA Newtie!
All told, nine Newtie Awards will be presented, including winners in the songwriting and album categories. Second and Third place finishers in the five genres will receive specially designed plaques.
Is the event for all ages?
Yes.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are $20; $15 for Students and will be available for sale soon at My805Tix.com.
Tickets will also be available the evening of the showcase at the door. Active military and veterans get in for FREE!
Where can I get a CD?
CDs are free for all winners. Additional CDs are available for purchase; $10 each at the event, and will also be available after the event at the New Times office located at 1010 Marsh Street in SLO.
Where can I buy T-shirts?
T-shirts are free for all winners. They will be available for purchase for $15 at the event and at the New Times office located at 1010 Marsh Street in SLO, after the event.
