Based on Roald Dahl’s 1988 novella, the story follows Matilda Wormwood, a precocious little girl with the gift of telekinesis who uses her power to overcome challenges, including dealing with her neglectful parents and her tyrannical headmistress.
Paso-based child actor Quinn Newman, 10, has been cast in the title role, and what’s incredible is she’s been coached by Gabriella Pizzolo, who portrayed Matilda on Broadway and stars as Suzie on Netflix’s Stranger Things.
“Working with Quinn on the material for Matilda has been such a wonderful process,” Pizzolo said in a press release. “It’s a difficult role to prepare, but Quinn is very talented, and I’m so excited to see what she brings to it. I’ve loved following along the same journey I remember beginning over 13 years ago.”
