As the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA) continues its expansion to Higuera Street, opening in summer of 2027, its current location at 1010 Broad St. will transition to an Education Center to expand SLOMA’s space for youth and adult classes. But before that, the building will enjoy one last hurrah as an exhibition space when it mounts Vista: Selections from SLOMA’s Permanent Collection, on view Oct. 24 through Feb. 7, 2027.

“Filling all three of the museum’s spaces—the Gray Wing, the Nybak Gallery, and the McMeen Lobby—Vista honors the artists, collectors, and families who built SLOMA’s Permanent Collection and, in doing so, helped build the museum itself,” SLOMA announced.

“These works were entrusted to our care over the years by local collectors, artists, and their families who believed in the vital importance of the arts on the Central Coast,” SLOMA Senior Curator of Exhibitions and Education Emma Saperstein said. “Vista is our homage to them and to their creative vision.”

The collection is impressive and chronicles work by 30 artists, including California scene painters Phil Dike and Phil Paradise, longtime curator Arne Nybak, Wachtang “Botso” Korisheli, and Gladys Gray, among others.

Admission is always free, and SLOMA is open Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit sloma.org for more info. ∆
