The guy who complained about speeders in the left lane (“Keep the left lanes on freeways for passing only,” Sept. 9) is exactly why a law should be passed to make it illegal to drive in it. The left lane should be used for passing only. Anybody in it should be using it as such. When a 65 mph driver is passing a 64 mph driver and not accelerating around them, it is dangerous.
The longer two cars are side-by-side, the greater the chance for accidents. There was once a saying: “leave yourself an out,” and that is very limited on a two-lane highway when cars are neck and neck. If you are going to pass a car, speed up and pass. Let traffic flow. You are not on the road to control other people’s speed. Let the CHP do that. Keep the highway safe, and clear the lane.
