We need to control the desert 

I’m not sure about certain county supervisors, but it seems to me that the water code is pretty clear in that the policy of the state is that the use of water for domestic purposes is the highest use of water and the next highest is use for irrigation.

By having residents bear the burden of new wells and not addressing the fundamental cause for this problem, their lack of direction runs totally against that and is frankly an insult to the residential taxpayers of this county. Their own studies show the steady decline of the aquifer both in good and bad rain years.

With agriculture using the majority of the water, it’s pretty clear that this desert we live in is being over-watered and it needs to be controlled. The water of the state, both surface and underground, should be developed for the greatest public interest, and I don’t think they meant wine grapes!

I agree we need to work together, but the supervisors need to start the dialogue by stopping this now and show that they are working for everyone here in the county.
