Like all businesses, Diamond Adult World caters to the needs of its customers. The majority of adults in the world have sex, either with a partner of the same sex, the opposite sex, or themselves. Like most activities that consumers participate in, they tend to seek products that will enhance their experience. Mr. Diamond just happens to sell products that are sexually oriented.
In reality, Mr. Diamond still faces the challenges, problems, and responsibilities of all small-business owners: The ability to succeed and make a profit. His business contributes legally to the employment, tax base, and economy of our community. Diamond Adult World must abide by the same set of laws as all the other businesses in California.
There are no barkers on the street trying to drag customers into the store; an adult enters of their own free will. What I can’t understand is if so many people object to the products that Mr. Diamond sells, how does he generate the money to keep opening more stores?
The sad commentary of this situation is that the voters of SLO County did not pass Measure L, the measure to fund our public libraries, yet Mr. Diamond has enough customers to keep opening stores that sell pornography.
