Lay off Anderson

Santa Margarita

The mention by The Shredder of cats, and roosters, and Eric Anderson who’s in charge of county animal services (“Change (back),” Feb. 4) was in my opinion (with more than 15 years volunteering at the shelter) quite ignorant.

I can attest with great certainty that in the entire time Anderson has been there he has always made every reasonable effort to keep healthy and stable animals alive and available for adoption or rescue. The cats in the recent influx were not the healthiest; most were seemingly inbred and had other issues along with adding to the already overflowing cat and kitten population. But as The Shredder stated, they were made available for adoption.

As far as the roosters go, try using your paper to find good homes for at least ten percent of them, if you can. Casting all this blame on the people working and volunteering at the shelter is like blaming the bulldozer drivers at the landfill for creating the pile of garbage. We all are just trying to deal with the cast-offs from the rest of society.
