A few years ago, Senator Ted Kennedy pushed for and succeeded in changing Massachusetts law to fill a vacant Senate seat with a vote instead of an appointment by the governor at a time when a Republican would likely have been appointed to fill the vacant senate seat.
Senator Ted Kennedy’s dying wish is to change the law back. Now that a Democrat would likely be appointed to fill his vacant Senate seat he wants the law changed again.
On July 18,1969, Mary Jo Kopechne lay submerged in the car Ted Kennedy drove off the road and into the water. Kennedy left the scene and didn’t report the incident to authorities until the body was discovered the following morning.
I wonder what Mary Jo Kopechne’s dying wish was?
Editor’s note: This letter was submitted before Kennedy’s death.
