I want to thank all the voters of Morro Bay who voted yes for Measure L — 61.57 percent of you supported public libraries. With your vote you informed the library administration and library staff that you wanted more open hours, more library materials, and funding for building improvements. Unfortunately, only 48 percent voted yes countywide. And in order for Measure L to pass, 19 percent more needed to vote yes.

According to the SLO County Library Administration, Morro Bay library will be open less than before. If you are concerned about this, please contact your local elected officials, including the County Board of Supervisors. In the next couple of weeks the Board will be making decisions about open hours for each public library in San Luis Obispo County. They need to know how important libraries are to the majority of voters who live in Morro Bay.
