WINDWARD 2006 PINOT NOIR PASO ROBLES MONOPOLE

This impressive Pinot Noir opens with pretty aromas, and flavors of ripe cherries, fresh boysenberries, plums, and spice, nicely complimented by nuances of earth and minerals. Well balanced, its fruit and spice notes married beautifully. Although you’ll find this excellent on its own, this Pinot is a great choice for the dinner table. It’s versatile with an array of foods. If you’ve read my column more than once, you know I love Pinot with a good steak, but this would pair just as harmoniously with roast chicken, fresh salmon, seared ahi, or cioppino. Yet another winner from owners and winemaker Marc Goldberg and Maggie D’Ambrosia, and a value among its peers for only $36 retail at Windward tasting room in Paso.
