This writing was triggered by Russ Hodin’s cartoon in the Aug. 17 issue, which depicted a beam of light in the shape of a Nazi swastika emanating from the White House.
Obviously, the intent was to infer that the occupant therein is a Nazi. This is an interesting concept considering that the Nazi’s were the fascist National Socialist German Workers’ Party, an extremist left-wing organization with Hitler leading the parade of brainwashed masses. One would be intellectually remiss not to acknowledge the parallels with the current crop of “progressives.” Were the left not so preoccupied with tearing down monuments and rewriting history, they might be mindful of the fact that Hitler and the Nazis believed in virtually everything today’s left advocates. Our president is the antithesis of Nazism.

I’m sorry, but this garbage has no connection to world history. It is simply the product of a vivid imagination and of a poor understanding of world history.
Hitler rose to power with a minority of the German population during a resurgence of nationalism using propaganda methods borrowed from William R Hearst’s yellow journalism machine, he had virtually no understanding of politics, he was wholly unqualified for the job, he was an extreme xenophobe and racist, and he was a rabid anti-socialist.
Hitler relied on fake populism to move the (ignorant) masses and harnessed the power of authoritarianism to suppress news & science, undermine the influence of academics & learning, promote the selfish interests of the blue-eyed white man, and attack his enemies.
Make no mistake, no American leader has had so much in common with Adolf Hitler than Donald Trump, and no group is more closely tied to militant nationalism & xenophobia than the American Baby Boomer. And if you read between the lines, I think it shows the seething anger that has taken control over his senses.
