Co-writer Kirill Sokoloz (No Looking Back, Why Don’t You Just Die!) directs this batshit-crazy horror flick about Asia Reaves (Zazie Beetz), who’s riddled with guilt over not being able to save her younger sister, Maria (Orefile Moloi when young and Myha’la when older), from their abusive father, Ritchie (Darron Meyer). Years later, after a decade in prison, Asia takes a job as a housekeeper in an exclusive NYC high-rise, but the building’s inhabitants are anything but ordinary people.
If you’re a fan of Dusk to Dawn (1996), Ready or Not (2019), The Hunt (2020), or Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026), this is right up your gritty, blood-geyser alley. Beetz is awesome as Asia, who might look like an innocent waif, but she spent 10 years doing hard time and honing her fighting skills. The immortal Satanic residents of the building may have the advantage of having Satan’s mouthpiece—a severed pig’s head voiced by James Remar—on their side, but Asia’s there to save her sister. Don’t underestimate family ties.

This is a great cast, including Patrica Arquette and Heather Graham, and the special effects are campy enough to only be comically disgusting. Fun! (94 min.) ∆
