Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo joins with Cal Poly in Pomona each year to design and build a float for the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena. This year’s theme was “Inspiring Stories,” and the Poly entry—most prominently featuring a gryphon—won the Lathrop K. Leishman award, named for the former president and grand marshal of the Tournament of Roses.
