See Lori Shocket’s bold and colorful wall art in Cambria’s Vault Gallery. According to gallerist Laylon Whittaker, her “work explores movement through layered cloth, free-form hand stitching, and shifting geometries. Each piece is one of a kind, shaped by intuitive decisions made in conversations with the material itself. To see Lori’s beautiful hand stitching just pinch the image and behold! Beautiful!”
Shocket attended Art Center College of Design where “she cultivated her talents in graphic design, setting the stage for a dynamic career as an art and creative director in several prominent industries,” Whittaker added. “Her innovative work has earned her numerous design awards. Her latest body of work that will be exhibited at the Vault Gallery features abstract textile painting collages.”
In January 2027, two of Shocket’s tapestries will be exhibited at the Visions Museum of Textile Art in San Diego.
“My textile paintings are contemporary interpretations of traditional quilting and textile art,” Shocket explained on her website. “My work is inspired by global cultures including Indian Kantha and Kawandi, Japanese Shashiko, and the quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Each piece is an assemblage of color, fabrics, and textures meticulously sewn together using a variety of stitching techniques.”
