NEW TIMES: Happy Halloween! What does the city of Pismo Beach have in store for our local trick or treaters?

BEECHER: Pismo will be hosting our Pumpkins on the Pier event! It will take place on Oct. 30, Saturday, and it will start at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Many of our local businesses that surround Pismo pier will be handing out candy for kids, and we will be hosting many different events for the kids to enjoy.

NEW TIMES: What kind of events in particular?

BEECHER: We will have a “guess the weight” of the pumpkin contest, pumpkin decorating, a climbing wall, a bounce house, a balloon typhoon, face painting, carnival games, D.A.R.E. activities, a fire truck, and a featured costume contest. The costume contest will start approximately at 11:30 a.m. and have different categories such as most original, scariest, funniest, and most decked-out.

NEW TIMES: Will there be a costume contest for adults as well?

BEECHER: Following the children’s contest, there will be an adult costume contest for the best-overall costume. Although we love people to get into the spirit of Halloween, we do ask that the adults who are participating to keep in mind that there will be children present,
so we ask them to keep the costumes in the contest appropriate. Have a safe and fun Halloween everyone. We hope to see you there!
