I got an A in honors geometry, so I know a thing or two about lines. You can draw a line, you can toe the line, or, if you’re Joaquin Phoenix playing Johnny Cash, you can walk the line. This January, at Studios on the Park in Paso Robles, at least one of these is guaranteed. Note: probably not Joaquin.

Beginning Jan. 1, you can see A Line in Motion—a mixed media exhibit centered on the common theme of lines. The exhibit will feature the expressionistic work of three diverse artists: Thomas Trivitt, Karrie Ross, and Ann Berg. Based in Los Angeles, Thomas Trivitt utilizes automative pin striping techiniques to produce dizzying line patterns. Ross, also based in Los Angeles, takes a more organic approach for her enigmatic, nature-inspired drawings. And for Ann Berg, lines take a three-dimensional form in her mixed media assemblages of wood, metal, and silk.

A Line in Motion runs through Feb. 1. There will be an opening reception on Jan. 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. Studios on the Park is at 1130 Pine St. in Paso Robles. For more info, visit studiosonthepark.org.
