The upcoming elections for San Luis Obispo City Council and mayor could set our city on a very different path than the moderate course of recent years. In the worst case, the council, as of January, could have as many as four of its five members favoring rapid development. Christine Mulholland will be gone under term limits. And if approved, Measure E-08 will allow people living outside San Luis Obispo to play an important role on city commissions that strongly influence city policies.

Electing John Ashbaugh and Jan Marx to the council will check such a wholesale shift. Our votes are very important, and not only on the national and state levels.
