The gun debate has been raging for many years with the highest tempo in recent memory probably reached in the last few weeks.

Questions: If the United States or state government actually reached the improbable 99 percent effective score of removing all guns from its citizens, would that not result in 1 percent still being here?

If the 200 to 300 million guns figure in the United States is accurate, and 1 percent remained after the most remarkable government program success rate in history, would that not result in 2 to 3 million guns remaining?

It there are 2 to 3 million guns remaining, who would have them? The law abiding (thus likely victims), or the criminals?

Explosives, which have many beneficial uses, are tightly controlled and illegal to manufacture or possess without a license.

In sadness, that did not help Boston.
