On the third Monday of every month, SLOMA holds a film night featuring independent movies that not everyone has heard of, but should. In this case, the film Las Calles Hablan: Barcelona Street Art will be showing this time around.

Barcelona, like many cosmopolitan cities, has a rhythm and a natural beat that carries and communicates its personality. It’s the very soul of the place. The film offers a unique take on street artists in all of their brash authenticity. Shot from the hip on the streets of Barcelona, the subjects fight for freedom of expression while battling the suppressive means of the government. Artists are always discovering a hidden world through art. This film shows that creating street art is a grueling yet rewarding task.

The film will be shown on June 15 at 7 p.m. at SLOMA, 1010 Broad St. in downtown SLO. There is a suggested donation of $5 for SLOMA members, and a $7 general admission includes a complimentary beverage.
