The Proclaimers have famously declared that they “would walk 500 miles.” Not to be outdone, piano popster Vanessa Carlton claimed she would “walk a thousand miles.” Well, they’re all lazy daisies. Playwright Amy Herzog boasts way more with her dramatic comedy 4000 Miles, which the SLO Little Theatre will be staging a reading of on Jan. 30 and 31.

The play follows 21-year-old Leo, who has just finished an exhaustive cross-country bike trip. He soon winds up at his grandmother Vera’s New York apartment, and the two become unlikely roommates and bond over their shared sense of aimlessness and grief.

You can see the SLO Little Theatre’s staged reading of 4000 Miles on Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. and on Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10. For more info, visit slolittletheatre.org.
