The City of San Luis Obispo has hired a new manager, Katie Lichtig, who’s currently an assistant city manager for Beverly Hills, to replace manager Ken Hampian who will retire. The City Council sifted through more than a hundred applicants to fill the position. Lichtig previously worked for the City of Santa Monica and was once the city manager of Malibu.

Lichtig was the top choice of both the council and the department heads who met with her, Councilmember Andrew Carter said.

“She has a great track record,” said Carter. “I really think we got a quality candidate.”

Hampian was city manager for nine years and has worked for the city for 20 years. Lichtig will start during the third week of January, 2010.
