What kind of a justice system has laws that could send a man to jail from five to 100 years for selling marijuana to sick people (Charles Lynch) but send a man to jail for only five years who pleads no contest to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and to felony hit-and-run (see The Tribune, CentralCoastRoundup, March 22)? How is it that Charles Seaborn from Carmel Highlands in his Range Rover is not on the same criminal level, if not worse, than Lynch? After he reported having “hit something” on Highway 1 hours after the incident and the California Highway Patrol found a bicycle still entangled in the front bumper of Seaborn’s Range Rover, it seems inconceivable that our justice system is not just a little blind in its levels of punishment. Or is the word “slanted”?
