At a recent San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party event, Democratic Party Chair Tom Fulks was quoted as saying that Democrats want to “eradicate MAGA from every corner of our democracy.” See the June 11 San Luis Obispo Tribune article titled: “‘We want to eradicate MAGA’: SLO County Democratic leaders plan strategy for November.”

The Republican Party of San Luis Obispo County strongly rejects this type of rhetoric.

In a constitutional republic, Americans are free to hold differing political views. Conservatives, liberals, Republicans, Democrats, independents, and voters of every persuasion have an equal right to participate in our elections, express their opinions, and advocate for the policies they believe will best serve our communities.

Political opponents should seek to persuade one another, not “eradicate” one another.

Millions of Americans support President Trump and the broader MAGA movement because they believe in secure borders, economic opportunity, energy independence, parental rights, public safety, government accountability, and the protection of constitutional liberties. Whether one agrees or disagrees with those positions, Americans who hold those views deserve respect.

We respectfully ask the elected officials who participated in this event to clarify whether they support or reject the statement that MAGA should be “eradicated from every corner of our democracy.”

The Republican Party of SLO believes democracy is strongest when competing ideas are debated openly and voters are allowed to decide their future at the ballot box. We do not seek to silence Democrats. We seek to win hearts and minds through persuasion, civic engagement, and free elections.

The answer to speech we disagree with is more speech. The answer to political disagreement is debate. The answer to elections is voting.

We encourage all citizens of SLO County, regardless of party affiliation, to reject divisive rhetoric and recommit themselves to the principles of civil discourse, mutual respect, and democratic participation.

The Republican Party of San Luis Obispo County remains committed to defending the constitutional rights of every American and ensuring that every voice has the opportunity to be heard.

Randall Jordan

  1. By ‘eradicate’ I assume Fulks meant just what you suggest: Persuade, educate and tone down the MAGA hate industry. Calling Talarico a “demon in human skin” or prosecuting Comey for posting 8647 seashells calling for Trump’s impeachment are attempts to stifle democracy, free speech and dissent.

  2. The rhetoric coming out of the local chapter of the Democratic party is similar to rhetoric broadcast on the radio in Rwanda prior to the Tutsis and Hutus engaging in genocide and chopping each other’s limbs off with machetes. God help us if they retake Congress. Thank God for the 2nd Amendment.

  3. Democrats make no secret of the fact that they are building a guillotine for use the next time they come to power. Anyone who won’t pledge their loyalty to the socialist juggernaut is going to lose their head.

    1. Projection, much? I saw a gallows outside the Capitol Building and the mob shouting “Hang Mike Pence” but not a guillotine.

      1. The Republicans are in power now, yet no executions of Democrats have occurred. More victimization rhetoric from the left.

    2. Apparently, Mamdani has only been in the US 8 years. Thanks to his commie, professor father, he has the gall to go on national television recently and basically spit on the very country that welcome him and his entire family. He might as well burn the flag while he’s at it.

      1. Mamdani will go down in flames just like recalled, left wing SF District Attorney, Chesa Boudin, in 2022.

      2. No, Mamdani has been in the U.S. since he was 7 years old (27 years), graduated from a Bronx high school and Bowdoin College. Is it really “commie” to secure funding for universal health care (a major expense for young families), add more bus lanes and fix potholes?

        1. The right throws around the word “Communist” with little understanding of its meaning. There has been no president more Stalinesque in our history than Trump, dictating personnel decisions to private companies like CBS, bypassing Congress on everything from tariffs to wars, using the DOJ to harass his enemies list. Like changing Leningrad back to St. Petersburg, it will take years to remove the stench of this debacle of an administration.

          1. Opening up government owned and run grocery stores is a lot closer to communism than the socialist systems in Europe.

  4. I’m all for Medicare for All, no question about it. However, surely there is a market orientated way universal healthcare can be established. Rather than simply tax everyone as far left socialists like Mamdani would, how about ending NAFTA and having direct federal investment in non-defense related, private sector business, let them bloom, and then restore corporate tax rates to where they were in the 1950? Our solution is a thriving private sector. We need a production export led economy rather than a financialized economy. Unfortunately, Democrats are making America choose between open borders as the pound of flesh we must pay.

The argument that we need mass illegal immigration is false or the price of a head of lettuce will be 50 bucks. Farmers need to stop dodging paying their fair share of tax by hiring illegals. When they start paying living wages yes, prices will rise for their goods, but through the market’s “invisible hand,” workers will be able to afford it because they would be finally paid a living wage. It will all even out.

  5. *Edit: Mamdani became a naturalized US citizen 8 years ago.

My wife and stepson both have green cards I paid for and completed the paperwork for. Opponents of mass, illegal immigration, like me, are against it not on an ethnic basis, but rather because it brings into question all the work and expense legal green card holders went through. Bring in all immigrants possible, but if they don’t have a green card and simply snuck over, it’s time for every single one of them to exit forthwith.

  6. Oh, poor Randall Jordan, and all of the maga republicans are so offended.
It’s likely Mr. Jordan and the maga followers didn’t read the original article.
All the GOP do is project the divisive addiction to rage and hate they are doing, onto good people who want to create healthy policy that helps unite our county and country.
No critical thinking or logic to his and maga’s arguments.
Tom Fulks was speaking with local elected officials about upcoming elections, and used the term “eradicate” euphemistically referring to how Democrats appear likely to clean out many of the spineless GOP maga congress and senate enablers of the despot in chief.
Carl Sagan described the cults, like the maga followers, as people who have been bamboozled. His quote is worth reading for maga and non maga.
    Jordan, don’t be bamboozled.

    1. Respectfully, liberal, supposed, tolerance is taken as a weakness by those who intend on wiping out American values. Basically, by ignoring our border, liberals are shooting themselves in the foot. The majority of these illegals follow a religion based in Rome whose values are antithetical to liberal tolerance. Before they know it, their women will be unable to get out of bad marriages, people attracted to the same sex will be unable to have their marriages recognized by the state with respective inheritance/spousal rights, and if a gal gets raped and impregnated by a sibling, she would be unable to abort the pregnancy. Pure genius, libs . Have fun with that. Me, I’ll advocate for closing the border and removing illegal aliens.
