A woman said an unknown male sexually assaulted her on the night of March 31 at a residence affiliated with the Cal Poly Delta Chi fraternity. She reported the incident to the San Luis Obispo Police Department on April 3.

The woman also alleged she ā€œwas forced to consume alcohol against her will,ā€ according to a Cal Poly emergency notification sent out to the campus on April 3.

ā€œThe university and San Luis Obispo PD are taking all appropriate actions in response to this report,ā€ the notification said.Ā

The incident is the second allegation of sexual assault occurring at a Delta Chi fraternity event in one month.

On March 4, the university reported an attempted sexual assault at the Delta Chi fraternity house, where an unidentified man attacked a woman by holding her down with the intention to sexually assault her, but she fought off the attacker and was able to escape.Ā

Cal Poly announced on April 3 that it suspended the Delta Chi fraternity chapter, effective immediately, while the university’s Dean of Students Office completes administrative reviews of the gatherings.

The April 3 announcement coincided with the first day of ā€œSexual Assault Awareness Weekā€ at Cal Poly.

Cal Poly Spokesman Matt Lazier declined to comment further on the incidents, due to privacy concerns and the ongoing nature of the investigations.
