San Luis Obispo police reported that several witnesses said Kevin Trevino, a 22-year-old transient, threatened to kill a San Luis Obispo man and a 13-year-old girl after pulling out a pocket knife on June 27.

The threatened man, Wily Menendez, was reportedly able to chase Trevino away with a broomstick. No one was injured.

According to police, Trevino was located several minutes after the attack in the 1700 block of Nipomo Street. He was identified by both victims; arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony child endangerment, and brandishing a deadly weapon; and booked at County Jail, where the State Parole Office placed a hold on him.

Michele Goula, media spokesperson for the District Attorney’s office, said that Trevino was arrested in 2002 on suspicion of forgery and counterfeiting, and has since violated probation so often, he was sent to state prison for 16 months.
