With more than 200-plus mass shootings so far this year, this nation’s misinterpretation of the Second Amendment is a death sentence—suicide.
While lawmakers mumble incoherently about faulty mental health and background checks, the truth is that hoards of weapons flood our streets. Recently, noted criminologist James Densley stated on national media that mental health isn’t the dominant problem. In reality, mental health records, if there are any, are private. He knows the motivations behind the shootings need to be studied, but with the shooters always being killed that is difficult.
More difficult than making laws to limit sales is the problem of weapons of war already owned by a public that is frightened and irresponsible. What is needed is a creative solution to get them out of private ownership. Limiting gun sales to those 21 years of age and older doesn’t make any sense. A 21-year-old finger can pull a trigger as quickly as any other age finger.
Day after day, news media report more and more gun violence. It is beginning to seem commonplace. It is time for the federal government to override state rights, make laws for the entire country, and see that they are enforced without the sale of any assault weapons. Our homeland and freedom are dying—and not slowly.

Couldn’t agree more. With more guns than citizens…25% more…in homes across the country, we don’t stand a chance. Even the country closest to us in this sad data point pales in comparison, with a one-gun-per-TWO-people ownership. We are OUT OF CONTROL!
And to enhance you last point, the average age of mass-shooter in the United States is 30. So, using a sliding scale of age for gun ownership is indeed useless.
All guns, save farmers and ranchers, under private ownership need to go!
Gun fetishists are all psychopathic sadistic scum. They are demonic cowardly inhuman slime who hate all that is good and beautiful.
Well, ignorance is bliss, I see.
Where did you get the “200 mass shooting so far this year” statistic? Bloomberg? Gifford? David Hogg? Or did you read it somewhere, liked the number, and gladly repeated it for your own pleasure? Perhaps, of course, you got this crazy number from the “Gun Violence Archive”, a group that uses number tossed into a mixing bowl, and pulled out randomly. What they don’t use, are FBI or police numbers. Look at all the major news sources the author is undoubtedly referring, and the story is copied and pasted verbatim, from coast to coast (Leftist news companies don’t want to be bothered with facts, just headlines). This isn’t reporting, this is parroting.
The GVA doesn’t care who or how anyone was shot, they only care about the total number, whether they are innocent victims, or gangs shooting each other. They also do not care about criminals shot by Police, as those numbers go into the pot too.
Here’s an idea for JF Langton and Mr David Foster; you leave me and my lawful guns, under the watch of my lawful self, to be used in any lawful manner, and I won’t tell the bad guys that you don’t care about the safety of your family, friends, or neighbors. Come up with a foolproof plan to keep guns out of the hands of violent people, and I will lead your parade to end the 2nd Amendment. There is a problem, though. Bad people will always have a weapon, be it knives, clubs, fists, feet, cars, home made explosives, or poisons among the many. Take away the ability for violent bad people to do harm, and you will have your utopia.
One major flaw. It won’t happen. It hasn’t, ever since Cain slew Abel without a gun. So, until you can assure me that it won’t…I’ll keep my guns, my freedoms, and my rights as a human, and an American.
Ahhhh, SLO Ride. Anther superior patriot who thinks the rest of the planet is clearly misguided. Or worse, that your arguably constitutionally-granted right to own a gun trumps any arguments in favor of getting rid or limiting them.
Yes, Mr. Foster! You get it too!
Oh, but you worded it wrong a little. See, the Constitution doesn’t “grant” rights. No, it does not. The Constitution is the legal wall that the government cannot breach. The Constitution, is the LIMIT of government intrusion upon your “pursuit of happiness”. The Constitution doesn’t say what natural rights (some even say God given) I can or cannot have, it stops the government from infringing on them, taking them away!
So, yes, you are correct. The Constitution trumps any argument to take away the right of self defense, or speech, or assembly, or security of self and property, or not to incriminate oneself, or worship as you see fit, nor specifically the 9th Amendment…
Ugh, SLO Ride… You need to find a time machine. The constitution isn’t a static document or a monolith…any more than the bible.
@David Carey Foster: The Constitution isn’t a “static” document? If it isn’t, and it can be molded to say whatever you want it to say, what is the point of even having a Constitution? It would be sort of like allowing a referee to call a football game according to whoever cheered most loudly in the stands. The drafters gave us the Constitution to temper some of the excesses of momentary popular demand , and to protect us from ourselves and to protect minority perspectives.
For example, criminal rights. After a sensational murder, the public could often easily be persuaded to eliminate the rights of the defendant, such as to a lawyer and to not be coerced into confessing , and proceed directly to punishment. There is a lot of free speech, such as flag burning, which is only tolerated because of the First Amendment. A static Constitution protects us all.
SLO Ride, I’m saying any document of guidance isn’t useful without changing and adapting it with new needs and revelations. Thus, amendments and new laws and such. What if we stuck with the bible as written? We’d be stoning adulterers on the town square. The constitution was written when we had a population of 2 million people, had no standing army, owned slaves and hunted for our supper. Too many guns, too much violence by guns. Simple math that other countries have figured out. Why can’t we? Why cling to a right, legitimate or not, if it’s killing so many of us? Because it served a need 250-plus years ago? Yes, there will always be violent people in societies. But why provide them easy means to spread their violence? So we can pop into the woods and shoot the occasional animal? For the the screaming hordes that are invading us?
Tell an Orthodox Jew the Bible isn’t useful unless they change it for new “needs” and “revelations”. He’d smack you over the head with the Torah. But, you’d still be wrong! See, the New Testament (for those not Jewish), does amend the Old Testament, with the sacrifice of Jesus cleansing your sins, the town square no longer was the scene of often misguided vigilantism. Yep, no more stoning them darn adulterers!
And….. You are right again! When the Constitution was written, there were indeed roughly 2 million brand new American citizens, and about 99% of that populace was armed, either with guns, or knives, or even swords. You know, the very “Arms” mentioned in the 2nd Amendment! The well dressed gentleman, or gentle lady, would consider themselves quite inappropriately attired without a defensive weapon upon their person. You had bragging rights if you owned your own cannon, and real neighborhood stature if you outfitted your merchant ship with lots of cannons!
Curious, what does the population have to be, to discount free speech? Or the right to assemble? Or to petition the government for redress of grievances? How many people negate the right to be free of unwarranted search and seizure?
Your main problem with this whole gun thing, is a failure to educate yourself about actual facts. Take away the heavily politically blue cities of Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Orleans from the totals of gun death reports, and the USA drops down to about 119th in world standing of firearm fatalities. Removing suicide from the total of (annual average) firearm related deaths of 38,822 (2017), and over 62% of that number is gone (according to the CDC), leaving about 14,000. Most of these are murders, but the CDC does not differentiate between justifiable or not. A little over 400 were true accidents.
Here’s a little fun fact: According to the FBI, plain ol’ knives kill more people, than ALL long guns (rifles and shotguns). Fists and blunt objects kill well over twice as many people as the AR-15! What? Who knew! Well, we “cwazy” gun owners did, and we’ve been trying to tell you for decades. Did I mention the Bible encourages killing those, who would kill you? You should sell your cloak…
We are witnessing what could be called “stochastic fascism.” Disinformation from right-wing controlled media outlets is accelerated by algorithms on social media, enraging the mentally unstable. The proliferation of guns is necessary for this strategy to be effective. Specific targets are demonized such as political opponents (Pelosi) or symbolic enemies (Fauci) and random violence now has direction.
