The Iraq mission is a great success

Kihei, Maui HI and Avila Beach

The national news media offered a mere two days of incidental coverage for the dramatic success of Iraq’s democratic elections.

Never did they mention the sacrificed lives of American service people who made this miracle possible, fusing together the incompatible factions of Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds—how this triumph should be an inspiration for Arabs in the Middle East to repudiate the stranglehold of the Islamic freaks, dictators, and Imam despots strangling them.

I was an Army combat reporter in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966 accompanying the troops in the jungle. While scratching notes on sheets of G.I. toilet paper, I was forever conscious of the integrity, class, and authenticity requisite of my profession. Today I am frequently nauseated by the commercialism instead of candor evident in the negligence by our news media to expound upon positive occurrences. They dwell solely in tragedies, trauma, and American shortcomings. Evil sells.
