Join me in supporting Carrizo solar

Morro Bay

• Believe in global climate change and know we need to vastly increase our portfolio of clean energy sources.

• Have opposed the use of nuclear energy and want a clean source of energy.

• Know that rooftop solar is not enough.

• Can’t have solar on your own home for whatever reason and want to see more sources of clean energy.

• Want to see California meet its renewable energy supply goal of 33 percent by 2020 since we are only at about 15 percent now and have a long way to go.

• Believe renewable energy projects should be placed near existing transmission lines to minimize damage to local environments.

• Support land conservation and in particular the plants’ plans to conserve more than 10,000 acres of land in the Carrizo.

• Believe environmental mitigation plans for these plants will provide protection of the plants and animals of the Carrizo and in fact give them better protection than they have now.

• Would like to see the end to the dry farming practices, currently occurring, which damage the land and have negative impacts on the plants and animals of the Carrizo.

Know that job creation projects in this county will help to employ hundreds of people who may be out of work now and desperately need jobs.

• Want to see San Luis Obispo County become a center for renewable energy design and production that will lead to new business and job creation in the long term.

A great majority of people, when polled, support solar. It’s now your turn to let the Board of Supervisors know of this support. It’s crucial for those of you who have not spoken to now speak. It is crucial that those of you sitting on the fence should now step up and support these solar plants. Please join me and many others in sharing your support of solar on the Carrizo.
