Now what?
Even if the predictions of climate change turn out to be false, switching over to electric power has no major downside. It's just the kind of project America needs, a huge job that will take decades, and put millions and millions of people to work. It also would make us less dependent on foreign countries.
And even if you truly believe that climate change is a hoax, we should still stop burning up fossil fuels. Petroleum and other mineral resources should be used sparingly. They are finite; they are incredibly valuable and impossible to replace for many products we depend on, such as plastics, solvents, and base chemicals for millions of things, many of which are much more important to humans than any one type of convenient energy. Just lazily burning it is wasteful, the opposite of conservative.
