A charred body found Sept. 26 by firefighters responding to a brushfire near Santa Margarita is a suspected homicide, said a sheriff’s spokesman. Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are being held without bail, according to police reports.

The body was identified as a 15-year-old female of Santa Barbara County.

 

Police responded to a report of a brush fire on Parkhill Road off Highway 58 in the early morning hours of Sept. 26. Firefighters put out the fire and found the charred body.

According to police reports, county sheriff’s deputies arrested four people at a Nipomo mobile home park the day of the body’s discovery on suspicion of murder. The four people arrested were Jason Adam Greenwell, 20, of Nipomo; Ty Michael Hill, 28, of Santa Maria; Frank Jacob York, 19, of Nipomo; and Rhonda Maye Wisto, 47, of Nipomo.

Cody Lane Miller, 20, of Fresno, was arrested Sept. 27 in a local hospital and kept under guard, according to police reports. He was booked in SLO County jail after being treated and released from the hospital.
