Tell John Winthrop (“Start the draft, stop the war,” Nov. 26) I didn’t miss his point in “Bring back the draft” (Nov. 12) at all.
I’m supposed to put my daughter in harm’s way to save our country from a bunch of morons? It wasn’t her or my idea to get our country involved in yet another illegal and unwinnable military conflict.
He must not have understood that if the draft is reinstated I will not protest or march on Congress, I will take her out of the country. When the volunteers and their supporters come to the realization that they have been duped yet again, and they summon the courage to admit it, only then will the carnage and waste stop, just as with Vietnam.
