On Feb. 27, the Oceano Community Services District (OCSD) met to reconsider committee assignments after it had banned, with a highly controversial motion, director Cynthia Replogle from all assignments for this year. However, regardless of much debate and protest from both the public and some directors, and again with a single hurried and confusing motion, the board majority persisted in not distributing the assignments equally among the board members. Furthermore, the board did not reinstate director Replogle in her previous positions of expertise. The majority relegated her to two minor, backwater assignments while keeping for themselves the important and decision-making committees. In addition, the manner in which business was conducted by the majority of the board is disputable. We witnessed unhealthy interactions among directors, such as interrupting and outbursts. Hopefully, the coming election in November 2020, when three directors will be up for re-election, will bring a much-needed change.

  1. Lucia,
Thank you very much for your letter to the editor; I couldn’t agree more! PLEASE, run for the OCSD Board!

The current Board’s treatment toward Director Replogle, is quite frankly, outrageous! I have never seen such a display of
sheer nastiness from elected officials, and believe me, I have seen plenty!

Ms. Replogle, is the brightest star to occupy a seat on the OCSD Board, from observations I have made over a period of almost 20 years. She is respectful of her colleagues, she is well-informed, and brilliant! Oceano is fortunate to have her representing them.

I also believe the current make-up of the Board, does not fairly represent Oceano, when two directors are from Halcyon, with a population of approx. 107 residents, compared to 7,300 in Oceano. Surely, Oceano can do better! November, looms in the not too distant future and your future depends on filling three vacancies. Keeping Ms. Replogle on the Board, will be a huge asset. Start thinking about two more, who could really make a difference for Oceano.

  2. Ms Repogele, is a very disruptive character. I know, I’m her neighbor. She has painter the curb, by the fire hydrant, to meet her needs and wants. I believe it was illegal to do so. UPS, has banned the street from service. They cut her from service awhile back, This week, they cut the whole street from service. My roommate is 81, recieves his meds thru UPS. Now what. We have grown up in the area. Never a problem, until she moved in next door. I am truly sorry, you don’t know who she really is. She has been in town for 3 years, and is very unhealth for this community
