I very much enjoy New Times but urge you not to use the word pot when referring to medical cannabis, which is a legitimate and recognized medication legalized by California in 1996 that actually was sanctioned by Morro Bay as early as 1993. The AMA has recommended re-categorizing it as a schedule II drug, meaning it has a range of medical purposes.

Describing the medicine as “pot” is misleading, pejorative, and does not further the discussion on this very important issue. The appropriate term is medical cannabis or medical marijuana: I personally prefer the first, though the California Attorney General has used the second term.
