Ana, regarding your Nov. 22 opinion piece, “When dreams won’t come,” here’s a quote from Epictetus (Lebell): “When we succumb to whining, we diminish our possibilities.”
I’m not sure where you got the idea that being in one’s 20s used to be fun, or even that it’s supposed to be fun. In our society, especially, this decade is often the most challenging. The one where you learn the most about yourself, your hidden strength, your potential, and your determination. This is the decade that requires choices that will set the stage for the rest of your life.
It’s not an easy process, but nothing worthwhile ever is.
