Working out is like a dance party now at Cambria’s Gym One, thanks to a new aerobic dance class called Zumba. A Latin-infused dance being used in health facilities and gyms locally and around the globe, Zumba is the hot new trend. A Zumba class targets the cardio system, hips, waist, and lower back area. Workouts incorporate Salsa, Merengue and Cumba and are easy to learn. With few verbal cues and no memorized choreography, Zumba allows the class to “feel the music and movements.”

San Luis Diagnostic Center was recently accredited as a “Breast Imaging Center of Excellence” by the American College of Radiology. The Diagnostic Center is the first diagnostic imaging facility of any kind in SLO County to receive this certification.

According to medical director Fred S. Vernacchia, San Luis Diagnostic “has achieved the same level of certification possessed by well-known West Coast facilities such as the USC Norris Hospital.” The addition of this certification “puts San Luis Diagnostic Center in a very elite group of breast imaging centers,” Vernacchia said…

Cal Poly Student Kyle Desautels will be painting homes and businesses in Atascadero this summer as part of an internship with College Works Painting. College Works hires college students to run a branch of their business as part of a hands-on training in business skills and quality paintwork. As the manager of the Atascadero branch, Desautels will run a licensed and insured business with a highly trained painting crew. Currently, Desautels offers a free estimate to homeowners interested in painting. When summer arrives, Desautels’ internship will become a full-time job. Nominations are now open for the SLO County Community Impact Awards. The following categories will be nominated: Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year, and Outstanding Business of the Year.
