The letter by Ray Pezzoll Jr., “He must be dreaming,”  in the April 9 edition, calls President Obama naïve and ignorant because he doesn’t agree with some of his policies: not the change many of us wanted. The writer is correct in his history of past administrations, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we must repeat them. President Obama is intelligent, well educated, and surely not naïve! It is important that people like the letter writer express their opinions, however, and that newspapers continue their role as watchdogs over the public interest. The economy has not been doing well lately, and in an effort to try to be positive many newspapers have been reluctant to publish stories or letters that might reflect poorly on our president. I’m glad that New Times is willing to publish all the news and letters, positive or negative, to help our politicians keep on the right path. Keep up the good work.
