Learn the country two-step and dance to some great music this Saturday, May 30, when the Central Coast Dance Community presents a country dance in the Morro Bay Veterans Hall (5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; all ages; $10 at the door).
“The evening begins with a country two-step dance lesson from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. led by our own dance instructor Shari Fortino,” organizers announced. “Following the lesson, the Rockin’ Bs band will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Julie Beaver is a powerful country and blues violinist and vocalist who turns on the afterburners when it’s time to rock. The band includes Kenny Blackwell (guitar and vocals), Wally Barnick (bass and vocals), and Art Dougall (drums). They will play danceable music for us.”
A few of the songs you might hear include “King of the Road” by Roger Miller, “San Antonio Rose” by Bob Mills, “Two More Bottles of Wine” by Delbert McClinton, “Another Day Another Dollar” by Lefty Frizell, or “I Walk the Line” by Johnny Cash.
“We know hundreds of popular songs and customize each show based on crowd response,” Beaver explained on her website. “We accommodate requests when possible and work to keep the crowd engaged, dancing, and singing along.”
The Morro Bay Vets Hall is at 209 Surf St. Δ
