MORGAN 2010 PINOT GRIS SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS R & D FRANSCIONI VINEYARD

MORGAN 2010 PINOT GRIS SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS R & D FRANSCIONI VINEYARD:

This complex white impressed me on a recent visit to Monterey, and I was quite pleased to find it available locally. Elegant and way too drinkable, this pretty white offers nectarine, melon, and citrus notes, with an impressive thread of minerality. The freshness was preserved by cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged in French neutral oak barrels, and then finished in stainless steel. The winery recommends it with shellfish, ceviche, and pesto-based dishes. It’s deliciously refreshing on its own. Limited in production, it won’t last long. It’s only $18 retail at the tasting room, but you can get a better deal at Albertsons in Morro Bay where it’s at $15.99.
