If you’re a fan of John Lennon, photography, documentary film, and a love story for the ages, you’re going to love The Lost Weekend: The Photography of May Pang, on display at Edna Contemporary for three days only—Friday, Sept. 18 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Saturday, Sept. 19 (noon to 5 p.m.); and Sunday, Sept. 20 (noon to 4 p.m.). Pang had an 18-month romantic relationship with Lennon when he and Yoko Ono separated in 1973.
The exhibition features Pang’s “intimate, limited-edition photographs taken … during one of the most creative and fascinating periods of Lennon’s life,” according to organizers. “All photographs will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival.”
On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Palm Theatre will screen the 2022 documentary, The Lost Weekend—A Love Story, with May Pang in attendance for a Q-and-A, followed by a sneak peek reception of the photo exhibition where Lennon’s drink of choice, Brandy Alexander, will be served ($22.05 presale at tinyurl.com/mv7zzfy4).
Exhibition highlights include the only photograph of Lennon signing the legal documents dissolving the Beatles’ partnership, and one of the last known photographs of Lennon and Paul McCartney together, taken on March 29, 1974. Throughout the weekend, Pang will meet visitors, autograph purchases, and share stories behind many of the photographs. Δ
