Directed by Cambria brothers Carlos and Kyle Plummer, and written by Cambria clinical psychologist Steve Brody, The Strawberry stars veteran actor Mike Farrell (he played Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H from 1975 to 1983). Here, he plays Herb Kaplan, an 80-year-old who after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, seeks to reconcile his fractured family and find peace with his decision to utilize Death with Dignity to end his life painlessly.

You’ll see a lot of local landscape in this emotive story of family reconciliation. It’s beautifully filmed, and the acting is amazing. The film also stars Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth), Suanne Spoke (Whiplash), Abe Lincoln, Ivette Li-Sanchez, Mateo Ray, Josh Garrett, Matthew Maynard, and David Trajan. It won Best Central Coast Film at this year’s San Luis Obispo International Film Festival as well as an award at the Desert Scape International Film Festival.

This special benefit screening includes a Q-and-A with the directors. Proceeds of the screening benefit The Strawberry filmmakers.
