I am so tired of the ugliness in our local politics. I’m tired of listening to the yelling, rude remarks, and bickering by our San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors. The lack of civility and the unwillingness to compromise are depressing.
And we voters need to put ourselves in check as well. I am appalled by the comments made about our politicians and their supporters. We need to listen more, think longer, and sometimes bite our tongues before we say the first thing that comes to mind. Anyone who has been in a committed relationship probably knows this from experience.
I have listened to a new candidate for District 4 supervisor, Jimmy Paulding, on four different occasions in the past few months. He is homegrown with deep roots here. Jimmy cares deeply about this area. In my opinion, he is very bright and refreshingly reasonable. He is fair-minded, respectful, and thoughtful. He is a problem solver who is willing to compromise. He listens very carefully and calmly answers questions. He is always respectful of others, even though he may not agree with them.
Jimmy Paulding gets my vote.

Bottom line is that the most effective and easiest way to restore order, civility and BENEFICIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS to our County Board of Supervisors is to join the grass-roots county-wide Republican and Democratic Coalition supporting Jimmy Paulding for Supervisor. More than ever, we need Mr. Paulding’s strong, moderating voice on the Board. Perhaps even mores so, the public needs a fresh Board member who has the education and real-world experience to get the job done in a common-sense and respectful manner.
Compare the other candidates and present Board members. NONE of them have the high degree of real world,. relevant experience AND the superior level of educational acomplishments that make Jimmy Paulding the ideal candidate to help bring our Board and our community come together for progress and prosperity during these troubled, angry times.
It is time for voters to set aside partisan bickering and elect the best most qualified candidates who care about the success of the entire community, rather than simply themselves and their small band of behind the scenes backers.
Jimmy Paulding is an antidote to the poison we have all seen and felt infecting our local communities in the past few years. Let’s hope the public recognizes this and does the right thing.
