New Times is proud to announce the addition of Camillia Lanham as editor of this paper. Lanham is a graduate of University Montana’s journalism program, and she’s worked as a journalist and editor locally since 2013, when she began reporting for New Times’ sister paper the Santa Maria Sun. In August she took over as managing editor at the Sun, and she will continue there as interim editor.

During her tenure as a reporter, Lanham wrote extensively about agriculture, education, and environmental issues—check out her reporting on local steelhead recovery issues at Bradbury Dam. She brings a strong news sense and commitment to in-depth journalism.

“I want to re-establish that as our forte,” Lanham said. “That dirt-digging, truth-telling journalism that alt-weeklies should be known for.”

Lanham officially took the reins May 15, following Ryan Miller’s departure after more than a decade with New Times. Lanham said her biggest challenge would be establishing a new voice for the paper, while continuing its almost 30-year legacy of independent journalism.
