What a relief! At last a conservative point of view published in the New Times (“A curious phenomena,” Aug. 26). Will wonders never cease?
I, too, am an outspoken conservative who has been “canceled” by a few friends who cannot argue with my logic and therefore have retreated from our friendship. Somehow they think it’s OK to express their own opinions, but when I voice mine they think I am trying to “recruit” them? Nay, nay, sweet sheeple, I am merely trying to say why I feel as I do. Whatever happened to intellectual conversation? I don’t give a damn how you vote. I do, however, want my ballot counted and reported accurately!
I am tired of being labeled a “racist” just because I disagree with the current administration and respect police! This “woke” culture is far more racist and divisive. I was in the South in 1952. I saw what real racism is, and it ain’t me, babe! I will continue to pray for our great country, and I applaud those who stand with me in this endeavor.

I’m tired of ex-friends and relatives whining about their views not being taken seriously when they recycle old, racist tropes like Replacement Theory, Eugenics and European Values. The Elders of Zion nonsense was a Russian Op 100 years ago, and it is today. I’m tired of anti-intellectual, anti-science, nihilistic ‘sheeples’ carrying water for billionaires. No, I do not waste time with Q-nuts, those who mistake treason for patriotism, or belligerent brown-shirts who mistake disruption of public meetings for participation in democracy.
@SteveFelton: Anyone who complains of “ex-friends” and their views, make this writer’s case more strongly than anything I could say (presumably, the “relatives” are not actually “ex”, as I am not aware of any way you can detach yourself from your kin no matter how annoying you find their views). If you find yourself rejecting friends because they do not “think the right way”, perhaps YOU are the problem and not them. This sort of rabid, unquestioning confidence in your ideology mimics what Pol Pot’s minions must of felt as they justified the killing of millions of Cambodians for socially-contrived class transgressions, or Mao’s Red Guard must have used when explained the killing of millions of Chinese during the Cultural Revolution.

@Satchmo The old “you’re being intolerant of my intolerance” fallacy. In fact, conservative “friends” blocked me on social media due to my posts critical of their Dear Leader. You’re the ones embracing fascism. Your craven toadies like McCarthy are silent in the face of treason and insurrection. You really won’t like the white Christian ethnostate that you are arming yourselves to the teeth to empower. Once the undocumented are all deported, the Muslims banned and the BLM protesters jailed, you will not be safe, you will be next on their list.
