Score another point for the men in brown. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Narcotic Unit reported that it seized 5,777 pot plants from an illegal field on the Hearst Ranch Property four miles southeast of the castle earlier this month. No arrests were made.

Sheriff’s officials have eradicated approximately 25,000 plants since August. Investigators have discovered plants in rural areas throughout the county.

“We do this every year during harvest season flyovers searching for gardens,” said SLO County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brain Hascall. “We are headed for a record year.”
