Christine Mullholland is a decent and compassionate woman. She want homeless people housed in clean, code conforming buildings. She is opposed to their living at the DeVaul ranch because accommodations there are substandard. And finally, she supports the “many programs that address the needs of the poor among us” (“Everone deserves clean and safe housing,” Nov. 26).

The homeless have no such choices. Their option is between the sustenance De Vaul provides, or none at all. At least at Sunny Acres ranch, they are warm and dry. Regarding the “many programs” she refers to, none address this question:  Where would these otherwise homeless people eat and sleep tonight?
