I have worked with Heather Moreno in my position as a board director for the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce, volunteered with her for community events, and most recently, as Heather has brought community leaders together to revive fundraising efforts for the Central Coast Charles Paddock Zoo. In every arena, I have seen her lead with compassion and logic to make decisions that make sense. Her actions show her as someone who is way more concerned with helping, improving, and growing, and not someone who gets hung up on party politics. For me, a third-generation resident of SLO County, that is the kind of leader I want to represent District 5!

  1. I’ve looked at Moreno’s Facebook page and came away impressed. But, I’m also impressed with Susan Funk. Both seem to be at the top of their game.

I would love to know how they differ on important issues. For instance, what does Moreno think of the ridiculous redistricting that put in the Patten map? I’m currently seeing Moreno signs at the top of 41 going into Morro Bay. I thought that was Gibson’s district. It used to be that Atascadero, Templeton and Santa Margarita were one district. It made sense.

Another issue is the gravel pit outside of Santa Margarita. I know the owners are still interested in running trucks through SM on a daily basis. They just need approval of the county. Luckily that’s been blocked. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find Moreno’s position. Funk is against it.

I really hope to learn more about these two excellent candidates in the future.
