To all of the Americans who are still adamantly supporting, defending, and enabling the president—have you had enough yet? Has the swamp been drained enough yet?

Four years ago the president appointed the wealthiest cabinet in U.S. history and plugged in family members. His tax plan two years ago disproportionately benefited the wealthy (not the middle class). Even before COVID-19, his administration had run up the budget deficit to astronomical numbers, which traditional Republicans have despised for decades. He worked hard to dismantle Obama Care with the intent of leaving millions without affordable health insurance but never provided a replacement. In April of this year he claimed to have the ultimate authority over states.

He’s threatened to fire prominent scientists, high-ranking politicians, and military leaders who have contradicted him with facts and evidence. Rick Bright, a Health and Human Services official, alleges that he was demoted after refusing to promote hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment.

Trump has systematically weakened long-standing relationships with critical international allies and sided with brutal dictators from Communist nations. Yet to date, 82 percent of Republicans continue to support him. Why is that? One friend of mine had several revealing answers:

“I only support a president that’s good for my bottom line, besides the alternatives are much worse.”

Are they? Really? Is it possible that you’re only hearing what you want to hear and disregarding the rest? You’ve got four months to think about it. I lean toward supporting and electing mature, intelligent leaders who actually believe in democracy, have respect for the Constitution, and are not an international embarrassment. What about you?

  1. In four months, they’re not going to learn to think. They have been fed a steady diet of fear and bigotry for decades, and like petulant children they are defiant and belligerent, even if you try to save their lives.

  2. No decent person supports Trump. Only sadists, racists & proudly stupid, selfish fools will vote for that psychopathic piece of garbage in November. Good people despise him.

  3. It is not the President. The President has limited power.

It is Congress not doing it’s job. not using it’s power to rein in the every growing federal control over our lives and economy. Not limiting its’ own actions to the limits placed on it by the Constitution.

Read and memorize Article I Section 6 to understand what Congress is allowed to do. Then read Article II Section 2 for what the President is allowed to do.

Don’t re-elect any candidate for federal office who fails to follow the Constitutional limits on their office.

  4. Dear Gail, I understand your position and realize you are correct that Congress has been woefully inadequate in stopping this POTUS from actions that have hurt millions in this Country and have violated the Constitution. But I also know that Trump believes he is untouchable, has “ultimate authority over States” and can do anything he wants with little or no consequence and has a covey of attorney’s who back him up. This level of defiance to the Constitution can be halted in November this year, and hopefully will.

  5. I suspect if Trump ever read the Constitution, it was a class requirement and the fact that it is a LIMITING document was not impressed upon him at all.
So few fully understand what the Framers intended.

  6. Gail Lightfoot:
Don’t hold your breath waiting for the swamp of miscreants to do anything to rein in the Leviathan state in which well over 95% of bureaucracy are leftist /Communist/democrats. The supine and totally useless opposition party of Republicans have not lifted a finger in 50 yrs to reduce the out of control regulatory regime: in fact, they have been the handmaidens of the unchecked growth of government over the lives of all if us.
America has had troops in the Middle East for THIRTY YEARS, much to the joy of BOTH PARTIES, whose benefactors have kicked back millions in lucre to, well, you know who they are…..
The Pentagon bureaucracy, contrary to any misconception is solidly democrat/leftist. (According to FEC data 84% of Pentagon donated to Hillary-which means the ones that didn’t meet the $200 floor, weren’t counted)
Every great civilization died for one of two reasons, sometimes both: war and debt. The Middle East is America’s Thirty Years War., all on borrowed money.
One last thing: in the 1788 French National budget, 60% of France’s budget went to SERVICE DEBT…..
In1789, the French people started their revolution against the corruption of King and Church.
