A famous and apparently elderly bank robber brought his act to a Heritage Oaks Bank Branch in Morro Bay on May 27, according to police and FBI accounts.

Witnesses told police that a 60- to 70-year-old man entered Heritage Oaks in the afternoon and used a revolver to rob the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. According to the Morro Bay police, the robber may have left the area in a small cream-colored, two-door sedan.

According to the FBI, the bank robber is likely the “Geezer Bandit.” If that’s true, the Morro Bay bank caper was the 14th bank hit by the allegedly geriatric gangster. The feds believe the robber’s elderly persona might be the product of make-up or a mask.

Beginning in August 2009 with a series of 10 heists in San Diego County, the Geezer Bandit has apparently migrated north with robberies in Temecula, Bakersfield, Goleta, and now Morro Bay. The FBI is offering $20,000 for information leading to the capture of the bandit.
