It’s a new month, so you can count on Gallery at Marina Square to pack the gallery with a new trio of featured artists. This month, oil painter Jeff Odell is in the upper gallery, oil painter Carol Astaire is in the lower gallery, and block printer Sandra Lisi is in the Craft Atelier Space. An opening is planned for Saturday, Dec. 13 (3 to 5 p.m.).

Odell, a plein air artist, is frequently sighted with his easel set up outdoors as he captures another beautiful Central Coast view.

“His oil paintings cover a span of over 30 years, making his paintings of Morro Bay a historical archive of town and waterfront changes through these years,” his artist statement explained.

Astaire’s paintings reference her photos.

“I’ve devoted the last five years to exploring the ocean south of the Port of Los Angeles to north of Monterey County, photographing extensively in all conditions, year-round,” her statement explained. “Then I use my reference photos to help remind me of my experiences on the water when I return to my studio and get to work.”

Lisi draws inspiration from local landscapes and then “skillfully hand-carves wood and linoleum blocks to create prints with rich textures and striking graphic elements,” her statement said.

Gallery at Marina Square is located at 601 Embarcadero, suite 10, in Morro Bay and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (805) 772-1068 for more info or visit galleryatmarinasquare.com. Δ
