Ooey gooey macaroni: The Avila Beach Macaroni and Cheese Festival is back in all of its cheesy glory this June 24! Unwind, relax, listen to live music, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the ocean. This year’s fest will be serving plenty of carby goodness plus tastes of wine, beer, and spirits with opportunities to buy full pours, if you should feel so inclined (go to themacandcheesefest.com for more info and tickets) … The annual Pre-Olive Festival Mixer is ripening at Allegretto Vineyards Resort in Paso Robles this June 3 (more on the event and the Olive Fest happening at Downtown City Park by calling 238-4103 or visiting the Paso Robles Downtown Asscociation website) … What are your plans this July? Tickets are still available for the 2017 Central Coast Oyster Festival rolling in salty spray this July 8 in Avila Beach. (centralcoastoysterfestival.com).
Wine and dine ya
Pleasantville: Have you been out to the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail in San Miguel lately? This June 10 and 11, take a tour at Bon Niche Cellars, where malbec, cabernet sauvignon, and bold blends rule (pasowine.com) … We all know that the local food and wine industry are a big part of our local tourism attraction here in SLO County. But did you know how many tourists we collectively brought in last year? According to Visit SLOCal, the local tourism economy grew to $1.59 billion in 2016, and has increased a record 10 percent since 2012. What’s more, visitors spent $1.53 billion in 2016, a year-over-year increase of 1.2 percent! That’s a lot of bites, slurps, and cha-chings!

Sun’s out, fun’s out(side)! Here’s a great idea: Stop by 15 Degrees C, pick up some noshables and drinkables, then head to the Templeton Community Park for the town’s quaint concert series featuring a host of local bands. The annual summer pastime kicks off June 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (templetonchamber.com) … Usher in summer with Wine, Waves & Beyond, a celebration of surf, sand, and good eats this June 2 through 4 in Pismo Beach (winewavesandbeyond.com) … Novo Restaurant is hosting a totally radical ’90s party during its regular Beleza Night event this June 2 complete with clunky flip phones, baggy pants, and smiley faces galore (call 543-3986 for more information or find the event on Facebook).
